to clean up this morning. tara moriarty is live at city hall in oakland. one of the many buildings protestors vandalized last night. >> reporter: yes some of the windows that protestors smashed have been bordered up at this time. but there is still a hole here in the front door of city hall that remains exactly as it was last night. demonstrators threw paint balls and smashed windows at city hall. the national berkeley lab office and three banks. the group of about 200 people gathered at frank ogawa plaza last night. they timed the rally to coincide with the 11th anniversary of the start of the war in afghanistan. around 7:15 the group headed north on west grand avenue. circled back to city hall and that is when the violence broke out. some luxury cars were also vandalized. >> just because we have a nice car, i don't know. we worked hard for our money. >> we live in oakland and to see our hometown come to shambles like this. >> reporter: the march only lasted 40 minutes and that did not give police enough time to call in mutual aid or make enough arrests. there is a security presen

in los angeles after holding two fundraisers in the city last night. he's got three more in san francisco today. and we learned over the weekend that the obama campaign brought in 1$181 million in september. the largest one-month haul of this campaign. 6,000 obama supporters paid at least $250 each to join the president at a star-studded concert in downtown los angeles. the lineup included katy perry, stevie wonder, jon bon jovi and jennifer hudson. president obama praised them all while poking fun at himself. >> and everybody here is incredible professionals. they're such great friends. and they just perform flawlessly night after night. i can't always say the same. >> reporter: it was the first public acknowledgment that his debate performance wednesday night might not have been the strongest. earlier sunday on "face the nation" campaign strategist david axelrod admitted the president wasn't completely happy with his showing. >> the president is his harshest critic. without getting into detail, i think you can assume that he's reviewed the tape. and it will inform -- it will inform how

. >> reporter: last summer, kwame brown, a former rising star, resign his chairmanship and left city politics, his career, in ruins. he was ordered back in court tuesday for failing to check in weekly before he was extended in november for felony bank fraud. at his guilty plea last summer, brown had promised to cooperate. but judge richard leon was told tuesday, brown had three times failed to check in as required. brown attempted to apologize. your apology is a little late in the game. what is your excuse, the judge that, cutting off brown. you're five weeks away from sentencing. this is not the way to position yourself. you must be extremely careful. you don't want to know what the next step is. judge leon ordered brown from now on to check in personally at the court once a week. and to adhere to a curfew from 11:00 p.m. at night until 6:30 in the morning. don't be back here until the day of sentencing. this is pretty simple stuff. brown's attorney said his client had gotten the message that he could be jailed if he disobeyed the court again. >> is he clear now on what his pretrial release

. it would discriminate against african-americans in ohio's second largest city of cleveland. the study found that african-americans used early in person voting at 26 times the rate of white voters in 2008. the study used census tracks where the voting population is over 80% african-american. every one of those red dots on the map represent 50 early voters. ohio republicans were trying to end early voting 72 hours prior to election day except for members of the armed forces. luckily for all ohio voters, their efforts have failed. on friday a federal appeals court judge upheld a lower courts decision striking down the law. the three-judge panel ruled the 72-hour voting period should be open to all voters in the state, including members of the military. this is good news. some questions still remain. it's being report the the final decision could be up to individual ohio counties meaning 72-hour window we're talking about could still end in certain places in the state. ohio republicans can still file another appeal sending it to the supreme court. as of now, there's no word of that appeal. it i

sandusky's refusal to admit guilt, we have seen this before and in fact, in our area. the city of falls church was rocked by the child molestation case of michael gardner. peggy fox, you covered this trial start to finish and you have an exclusive interview today. >> i sat down with the parents of one of his victims. their daughter was only 10 years old when michael gardner molested her and another girl at her daughter's slumber party. when mr. rice heard what mr. sandusky said, it was like deja vu. despite the fact michael gardner was convicted of sexually abusing two young girls, close friends and family members, including his wife, former falls church mayor, robyn gardner, refused to believe he did it. on his sentencing day last month, gardner offered no apology. instead, he insisted he had been wrongly convicted. dan and christina rice, whose daughter was molested by gardner were not surprised. >> gardner and sandusky continue to say that they are innocent, why do you think? >> because they are still fighting it. also, they have wives that love them and families that support them
